As of Tuesday, March 8, the city website will include a virtual information center about plans for the Hiawatha Gardens site and building. It can be accessed at bit.ly/3AOC88G.

The center will provide detailed information about the draft alternatives for the historic Hiawatha Gardens dance hall building, as well as for the surrounding parking area.

Residents are encouraged to visit the online information center before attending one of two community meetings to learn more about, and provide responses to, a draft plan for transforming Hiawatha Gardens.

The first meeting, which will be virtual, will take place 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 16; the second will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, in City Hall’s Memorial Hall, 606 Manitou Ave.

Information about how to access the virtual meeting can be found on the above web page.

In October 2020, the Manitou Springs City Council reconvened a task force to “investigate and implement the restoration of historic aspects of Hiawatha Gardens with the goal to establish it for community use, including but not limited to a multi-modal transportation hub.”

City staff and a task force comprised of community volunteers will present the progress and welcome the community’s feedback.
