Colorado Springs project

A major project milestone was achieved on Friday, June 17, when crews opened 30th Street between Mesa and Gateway roads to traffic after reconstruction. Garden of the Gods Park now has a new roundabout entry to improve access and traffic flow.

Travelers will encounter flaggers for periodic work next to the roadway.

The contractor will install permanent lane striping, sidewalks, curb ramps and central island landscaping in the fall, when traffic volumes are lower.

Through early summer 2023, 30th Street will be closed in both directions between Gateway Road and Fontanero Street. Access to Garden of the Gods Park, including the Visitor & Nature Center, will be maintained from Garden of the Gods Road.

The detour directs all traffic to use Centennial Boulevard. Park and Visitor Center traffic can enter 30th Street from Garden of the Gods Road.

Water Street and Westmoor Drive are closed at 30th Street, but 31st Street will remain open for access to the Pleasant Valley neighborhood.
