July 25

Manitou Springs Police officers contacted people trespassing under the bridge near westbound U.S. Highway 24 and West 31st Street. They were verbally warned and left the area.

Officers responded to a hit-and-run accident in the 200 block of Beckers Lane. No one was injured and the vehicle had minimal damage.

 

July 26

MSPD responded to a report of an unknown person trespassing on private property on Park Avenue. No suspect information was available, but a cell phone was left behind.

At 0130 hours, officers contacted a suspicious vehicle in the 2900 block of Robinson Street. They observed drugs in plain sight inside it and took the occupant into custody. The suspect was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on charges including violating a protection order and possessing amphetamines.

A theft in progress was reported at a retail store in the 300 block of Beckers Lane. Officers arrived after the suspects left and have only physical descriptions to work with.

 

July 27

MSPD stopped a vehicle leaving a high-crime area, the 2900 block of Robinson Street. The driver was cited for driving under the influence of drugs and possessing amphetamines.

While patrolling the 500 block of El Paso Boulevard, officers observed someone trespassing and sleeping in the park after hours. The person was detained and cited for trespassing.

MSPD responded to a fraud report in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. When the officers arrived on scene, they learned that a man had tried to use a fake I.D. before fleeing. They confiscated the I.D.

A vehicle rear-ended a parked vehicle on Deer Path Avenue. The driver was cited.

Officers responded to a cold report of harassment on Park Avenue and documented the case of internet harassment.

 

July 28

MSPD officers were dispatched to an assault in the 300 block of Ruxton Avenue. They investigated and issued a summons for third-degree assault to the suspect.

Manitou police responded to a check-the-welfare request on Narrows Road. A woman there was found to have a local felony warrant and was transported to CJC.

 

July 29

Officers on foot patrol searching for transient camps in the 1300 block of Manitou Avenue encountered two people. One person was found to be violating a protection order to stay away from the other person. The suspect was taken to CJC.

MSPD responded to the Washington Bypass/Sunshine Trail, where a vehicle had struck a parked, unoccupied car. The driver provided all necessary information; no one was injured.

 

July 30

Officers stopped a vehicle weaving across lanes in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and arrested.

A disturbance was reported in the 100 block of Pawnee Avenue. Upon arrival, MSPD learned that an assault had occurred and the suspect had left the area. The victim was located shortly afterward. Officers have identified the suspect and the investigation is ongoing.

 

July 31

The suspect in a July 30 third-degree assault ran from MSPD officers as they attempted to serve him with a misdemeanor citation. They were unable to locate him.

At 0957 hours, officers stopped a vehicle in the 3600 block of West Colorado Avenue. The driver was a habitual offender and was cited; the vehicle was towed.
