Jeff Cuno of Gypsum, Colorado, won the Barr Trail Mountain Race on Sunday, July 17. The 27-year-old finished the course to and from Barr Camp in 1 hour, 40 minutes and 48 seconds.

Veteran mountain runner Kristina Mascarenas, 33, of Colorado Springs was the top female finisher at 1:54:09, good for seventh place overall.

Joseph Gray, who set the men’s record of 1:28:34 in 2017 and has won the Pikes Peak Ascent and the Pikes Peak Marathon, did not race in this year’s BTMR.

The women’s record of 1:47:57 was set in 2010 by Brandy Erholtz, who also didn’t enter this year’s race.

A total of 292 runners — 99 female and 193 male — completed the race.

Several Manitou Springs residents competed, including: David Burroughs, who finished 17th overall; Jared Thompson, 33rd; and Christopher Odekirk, 38th.

The race was launched in 2001, but was cancelled in 2012 for the Waldo Canyon fire and in 2020 for COVID-19.
